What do you attribute your success to?
- She attributes her success her willingness to grow and learn and being tenacious. She has always wanted to be in healthcare and was inspired at a very young age when she was born with a ventricular septal defect, a small hole in her heart, but thankfully she grew to be a healthy young lady. She was also inspired by her sister who was two years older than her whom was also diagnosed with lupus. They worked hard together to achieve their dreams of becoming a registered nurses so that they can take care of patients and also wanted to open up a nursing school called Healthy Helpful Insight Healthcare Institute. She has received her MSN, RN, PHN, and is also founding members of Black Nurses Chapter, member of the Pink Ladies which provides cancer awareness, and helps those affected in the community affected. She also sits on the Minnesota board of Nursing, and founded one of the nine Black Nurses Rock Twin Cities Chapter. She enjoys reading The American Journal of Nursing and attributes her success to her sister Sabrina Mays whom passed away sadly from lupus in 2008 right before she graduated. She attributed the school to her as it was their dream together.
