What made you choose a career in nursing?
Desrie remembers when she first went to Harlem, NY and witnessed people high on heroin. She knew then that she wanted to help those suffering from chemical and substance use disorders.
What Do You Attribute Your Success To?
Besides her mother, Desrie credits Miss Easman, who was the Head Tutor at her nursing school, and Mr. William F. Green, the Associate Executive Director at St. Marys for their mentoring, guidance and advice.
What motivates you at the start of each day?
Desries mother was a very brilliant woman and motivated Desrie. Desrie was very loved by her family as well as by the people of her village where she was raised. 
How do you make a difference in the lives of your patients?
She is an avid reader and constantly does research to keep on top of new information and medical developments. She is very passionate about what she does and has kept her licenses in England, Wales, Trinidad and Tobago active, as well as her NYS nursing license.
