December 1976-June 1984, Peruvian Republic Coats of Arms Ministry of The Navy Surgeon Major Santiago Tavara Navy Medical Center Lima-Peru, ICU Staff Nurse and Assistant Charge Nurse placed in charge of precepting new ICU nurses assigned to the Unit.
July 1983-January 1984,selected for one of six positions from over 300 nurses applicants to attend specialized training in the United States (U.S).Requirements included written and oral exams and being fluent in English.The training was at the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.I completed the following courses:Medical Department Basic Officer Course;Principles of Military Preventive Medicine;Faculty Development Course; Intructor Training Course; and the American Red Cross Instructional System Course. I was required to meet the same high academic standars as the U.S.officers in attendance. applying for these positions.The competition included written and oral exams.Nurses also had to be fluent in English.The training in the United States was at the United States Army Academy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas; I completed Medical department Officer Basic Course, Principles of Military Preventive Medicine, Faculty Development Course, Instructor Training Course and American Red Cross Instructional System Course. I was required to meet the same high academic Standards as the U.S officers in attendance.
February 1984- February 1985: Clinical faculty instructor for the Peruvian Republic Coat of Arms Ministry of the Navy Surgeon Felipe M. Rotalde Health Nursing School.Taught in the Medical- Surgical Nursing curriculum.
July 1988- July 1990, Staff nurse at the Riyadh Armed Forces Hospital Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Step- down Telemetry Unit.

My love for the Nursing and the support of my family. My strong leadership abilities, team work approach and professionalism have contributed to a successful nursing career.
What motivates you at the start of each day?
As a nurse , I have the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical setting sand have enjoyed the experience of new learning opportunities.It give me great satisfaction and motivation to keep current on medical trends and training, so I can provide the best care to my patients.
How do you make a difference in the lives of your patients?
Dealing with patients and their families, and helping them through what is often a difficult time for them is extremely satisfying for me.
Research Interests
Cardiovascular disease-primary and secondary prevention modalities in high risk population including families with premature coronary artery disease and patients with cardiac risk factors

Volunteering and Causes - Charitable Organizations
- 2013-2018:Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA); as a CASA volunteer I advocate for children who has been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS) due to abuse or neglect. I am appointed by the judge of the Children's Court in Bexar County Texas to help determine the best interest of the child or children to whom I am assigned. In addition, I am charged with bringing to the attention of the court any unmet needs of the children may have while they are in substitute care.
2011-2018 , Blue Star Mothers of America,Inc, San Antonio, Texas Chapter 4, Support group ( mothers and fathers who have or have had children serving in the United States Armed Forces) for families whose loved ones are currently serving in all branches of the military.
2001-2002 while working with the American Heart Association as president and chairman of the Cardiovascular Nursing Committee, we conducted programs throughout the city reaching greater than 700 nurses and generated $25,000 in funding during the year.This represents a 10% increase over the previous year and greater than 30% of our intended goal. As a mother, I spent many years working with the Boy Scouts of America organization and engaging in numerous school projects.
Finally, and most important is my work in the church with the ACTS retreats activities.
