What made you choose a career in nursing?
I was studying kinesiology when my grandmother entered into hospice care. Her treatment as well as the care for my family was excellent. When I saw the hospice nurse crying after my grandmother passed, something inside me triggered. I changed my major a few weeks later to nursing and strove to become a hospice nurse.
What Do You Attribute Your Success To?
I recently completed my MSNEd and dedicated it to my younger sister, Rebecca, who passed away from gastric cancer in 2014. She died while I was in the very beginning of the program. Shes my inspiration in treating my patients and their families with love and respect.
Research Interests
My MSN practicum was entitled End-of-Life Care for Patients and Family Members which is meant to be implemented in the hospital setting. It is also easily edited for skilled nursing facilities which may not have the education in hospice and palliative needs.

Currently I'm enrolled in a Post-MSN CNS Certification program, with the hopes to expand palliative care to the homeless community in San Diego.
